Custom Tea Packaging
Printed pouches for loose leaf, blends, and tea bags
Starting around$0.380/eaConfigure for your priceCustom printed tea packaging for tea companies, tea houses, and anyone selling loose leaf or blends by the pack. Tea is a shelf-stable product that is nonetheless fragile in a specific way — the aromatic oils that carry a tea's character are volatile, and they leave a package that lets them. A pack built for tea has to hold those aromatics in while making the product look like something worth buying, which is why barrier choice and shelf presentation get decided together rather than one after the other.
YaSeen Packaging runs tea packaging as a configured product rather than a catalog pick. Choose the capacity and format, confirm the barrier level your leaf and shelf life actually need, add a zipper if customers will open the pack repeatedly, and send print-ready artwork or just your logo. A free digital mockup shows the finished pack before manufacturing, and larger runs lower the unit cost — so the same system works for a first retail run and for a brand restocking a proven line.

About Custom Tea Packaging
A tea pack is a barrier product before it is a marketing product. The compounds that give a tea its aroma are volatile, which means they migrate out through a package over time. A pouch with no meaningful barrier will hold the leaf safely but will let the character of the tea fade — and a customer who buys a second pack because the first was good will find the second one duller than the first. Selecting the barrier level against your expected shelf life is the decision that prevents that.
Capacity follows how the tea is sold. Small packs suit samples, single-origin trials, and gift or subscription formats. Standard retail packs are the everyday weight a customer drinks at home. Large and bulk formats serve wholesale accounts, cafés, and tea houses that portion from a larger pack behind the counter. Because the same artwork scales across all three, a tea company can run its retail pack and its wholesale pack as one print project instead of two.
Format is the third decision, and it follows from how the pack is merchandised. A stand-up pouch sits upright on a shelf and presents its front panel to the customer, which is what most retail tea uses. A flat-bottom pouch has a box-like base, which gives it a more stable and more premium presence on a shelf and suits a brand trading on quality. A window, where the product tolerates one, lets the customer see the leaf itself — a strong selling point for a whole-leaf tea with visible character.
Capacities & Specifications
The capacity bands below cover the common tea formats. Exact fill weights and dimensions are confirmed with your quote rather than assumed from a nominal pack weight.
| Capacity Band | Typical Use | Common Application |
|---|---|---|
| Sample / single serve | Trial packs, samples, sachets | Direct-to-consumer trials, gifts |
| Standard retail (25–50 g) | Everyday retail pack | Shelf and online retail |
| Bulk / wholesale (100 g+) | Café and wholesale accounts | Tea houses, food service |
| Custom capacity | Tell us your fill weight | Confirmed with quote |
Barrier, Features & Format
Barrier level is the specification that most directly affects how long your tea keeps its character. A standard barrier suits dry, shelf-stable leaf sold on a normal retail cycle. A higher barrier suits teas where the aromatic profile is the product — single-origin, delicate greens, and anything premium — or where the pack has a long shelf life or travels through temperature swings in distribution.
Features follow from how the pack is opened and sold. A resealable zipper matters whenever a customer opens the pack repeatedly over weeks, which is the normal pattern for loose leaf at home. A hang hole suits pegboard or clip-strip retail. A clear window shows the leaf where being seen sells the product. A tear notch gives a clean opening without scissors.
Finish is the surface decision — matte and soft-touch read as premium and photograph well, gloss gives stronger color contrast, and an uncoated or kraft surface reads natural and tactile for brands built around provenance and simplicity.
- Standard barrier — dry, shelf-stable leaf on a normal retail cycle.
- High barrier — premium, delicate, or long-shelf-life teas.
- Resealable zipper — for packs a customer opens repeatedly.
- Hang hole — for pegboard and clip-strip retail.
- Clear window — shows the leaf where visible character sells.
- Matte, gloss, soft-touch, or uncoated kraft finish.
Printing & Brand Coverage
A retail tea pouch has two working surfaces. The front panel has to work hardest — it carries the brand, the tea name, and whatever tells the customer what they are buying. The back panel is the information surface, and for tea it usually has real work to do: origin, harvest, blend, brewing instructions, and net weight all belong there. A well-designed back panel is often what turns a browsing customer into a repeat buyer.
Full-panel print covers both, which is the normal approach for a retail tea pack because the packaging itself is doing the explaining. Where a window is used, the print layout has to be built around it so the leaf stays visible and the artwork does not crowd it — we lay that out during artwork review and confirm it on the mockup before production.
Why Tea Brands Print Their Packaging
Tea retail is a crowded shelf, and most of what separates one pack from another at the moment of choice is the pack itself. A customer comparing two similarly priced teas is choosing on how each one presents — the clarity of the front panel, the feel of the surface in hand, and whether the back panel answers their questions.
The economics also favor printing. Tea is bought repeatedly by the same customer, so a printed pack is seen again and again in the same household over months. Where a brand sells through cafés or wholesale accounts, the pack also works as a display item behind a counter, which extends the brand into a space the customer visits regularly.
How Pricing Works
Custom tea packaging is quoted per project rather than sold at a list price, because the cost moves with the capacity, the barrier structure, the features (a valve, a zipper, or a window changes the construction), how much print coverage your artwork uses, and the quantity you run.
Submit your configuration in the configurator and a specialist returns pricing for your exact combination, including what the price covers — pouch or carton, printing, delivery, and artwork setup.
Minimum Order Quantity
Minimum order quantity depends on the capacity, material structure, features, and the print setup your artwork requires, and is confirmed with your quote. Print setup is the largest fixed cost in a pouch run, which is why MOQ tends to fall as the pack format gets more standard.
Tell us your target quantity in the configurator and we will confirm the actual minimum for your build.
Artwork Requirements
Vector artwork gives the cleanest result, because the file scales to the pouch and the carton without losing edge quality.
- Preferred: AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF — vector formats.
- Acceptable: PNG or JPG at high resolution.
- If you only have your logo, we can prepare the pouch layout for you.
- Where a window is used, the layout is built around it — confirmed during review.
- A color reference — hex code, Pantone number, or a physical sample — helps us match accurately.
Production & Delivery
Tea packaging is custom manufactured after you approve the design and pricing — it is not pulled from stock. The sequence is: configure your specifications, receive a free digital mockup, approve the design and pricing, manufacturing begins, then the completed order is delivered nationwide.
Production timing and freight depend on the pack, quantity, and your delivery location, so they are confirmed as part of your quote rather than estimated here.
Reordering
Tea brands reorder on a fairly predictable cycle once a line is selling. Because your capacity, barrier, features, finish, and approved artwork are recorded against your order, reordering is a matter of confirming your previous configuration and quantity. Tell a specialist you are reordering and reference your previous project.

Production Time and Shipping Time Are Different
Production time is the time required to manufacture your packaging. Transit time is the time required to transport it to you. These are separate — a production window is not a delivery date, and every project's timeline is confirmed with your final quote.
Express
Best when speed matters most. Faster transportation may be available depending on the product, quantity, manufacturing location, shipment size, destination and carrier availability. Express transportation can cost significantly more than standard, and an exact transit time is confirmed with your freight quote.
Standard
Best when you want a balance between delivery cost and transit time. Standard freight is generally the more economical option when your schedule allows additional flexibility. Actual transit time and freight cost are confirmed with your final quote.
Large-volume freight
Larger orders are not handled as ordinary parcel shipments. Depending on size and destination this may involve palletized freight, LTL, air, ocean, partial-container (LCL) or full-container (FCL) arrangements. YaSeen determines the appropriate method for your actual project and quotes it accordingly.
