Custom Kraft Takeout Boxes
Printed boxes for entrées, sides, and catering
Starting around$0.500/eaConfigure for your priceThe kraft takeout box is the workhorse of foodservice packaging — a folding carton that handles anything from a side of fries to a full entrée, stacks efficiently in a delivery bag, and gives every order a consistent footprint. Kraft board carries a natural, unbleached look that reads as unfussy and food-forward, which is why it is the default choice for restaurants built around scratch cooking. Printing your logo on the top panel turns every order into branded packaging without changing the material customers already expect. These boxes suit restaurants, food trucks, ghost kitchens, caterers, and deli counters.

About Custom Kraft Takeout Boxes
A kraft takeout box is a folding carton cut and scored from a single sheet of board, then folded into a base with a lid. Kraft board is unbleached, which gives it a natural brown finish and lets light show through slightly — that translucence is part of why kraft photograph looks warm and food-forward, and why it has become the default finish for restaurants built around scratch cooking.
The closure style decides how the box behaves through a service. A hinged lid folds from the same piece as the base and tucks closed, which makes it the fastest to assemble during a rush. A separate lid sits on top of the base and gives a more rigid, stackable box — useful when orders are stacked in a bag or held under a heat lamp. A folding carton is self-locking and flat-folds for storage, which matters if you keep a large volume on hand in a small kitchen.
One structural consideration specific to takeout: food releases steam, and a closed box traps it. Where a dish is served hot and crisp, venting or a loosely closed lid preserves texture better than a tight seal. Tell us what you are serving and we will recommend a closure that suits it.
Sizes & Specifications
The sizes below cover the common takeout formats. Give us your finished portion dimensions and we will match the box to the actual contents rather than a nominal size.
| Box Size | Typical Use | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Small | Sides, small entrées, appetizers | Most economical |
| Medium | Standard entrée | Most common size |
| Large | Platters, family portions, catering | Largest footprint |
| Custom dimensions | Tell us your measurements | Confirmed with quote |
Board & Construction
Kraft is the default, but the board grade is what determines strength and print quality. Heavier board holds its shape better under stacked orders; smoother board holds finer print detail.
- Kraft board — natural unbleached finish, the most common takeout choice.
- Clay-coated — a smoother surface that holds sharper print detail and more accurate color.
- Corrugated — additional strength and insulation for heavy portions and catering.
- Coating and grease-resistance options — availability confirmed for your specification.
Printing & Brand Coverage
Top-only coverage puts your artwork on the panel the customer sees when the box opens, and is the most economical choice. Top and bottom adds a branded surface that faces outward in a delivery bag. Inside print puts branding on the underside of the lid, so the message appears at the moment the customer opens the box.
Kraft stock is a slightly absorbent, textured surface, so print behaves differently than it does on coated white board. Bold marks and larger type reproduce well; very fine linework can fill in. A single-color print on kraft also produces a softer, more organic result than the same artwork on coated stock — worth knowing if you are matching an existing brand color.
Why Restaurants Print Their Takeout Boxes
Takeout and delivery orders are consumed away from your restaurant, which means the packaging is the entire brand experience for that sale. A customer eating at home sees the box, not the dining room.
Consistency is the other argument. When entrées, sides, and appetizers all arrive in coordinated kraft boxes, an order looks assembled rather than improvised — and that impression carries into how the food is perceived, before anyone takes a bite.
How Pricing Works
Custom kraft takeout boxes are quoted per project rather than sold at a list price, because the cost moves with the board grade, the box footprint, the closure style, how much print coverage your artwork uses, and the quantity you run. Larger runs lower the cost per unit.
Submit your configuration and a specialist returns pricing for your exact combination, including what the price covers — board, printing, delivery, and artwork setup.
Minimum Order Quantity
Minimum order quantity depends on the box size, board grade, closure style, and the print setup your artwork requires, and is confirmed with your quote. A box that shares tooling with a common size can start smaller than a fully custom footprint.
Tell us your target quantity in the configurator and we will confirm the actual minimum for your build.
Artwork Requirements
Vector artwork gives the cleanest result, because the file scales to the box panel without losing edge quality.
- Preferred: AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF — vector formats.
- Acceptable: PNG or JPG at high resolution.
- If you only have your logo, we can prepare the box layout for you.
- A color reference — hex code, Pantone number, or a physical sample — helps us match accurately.
Production & Delivery
Kraft takeout boxes are custom manufactured after you approve the design and pricing — they are not pulled from stock. The sequence is: configure your specifications, receive a free digital mockup, approve the design and pricing, manufacturing begins, then the completed order is delivered nationwide.
Production timing and freight depend on the box, quantity, and your delivery location, so they are confirmed as part of your quote rather than estimated here.
Reordering
Because your box size, board grade, closure style, and approved artwork are recorded against your order, reordering is a matter of confirming your previous configuration and quantity. Tell a specialist you are reordering and reference your previous project.

Production Time and Shipping Time Are Different
Production time is the time required to manufacture your packaging. Transit time is the time required to transport it to you. These are separate — a production window is not a delivery date, and every project's timeline is confirmed with your final quote.
Express
Best when speed matters most. Faster transportation may be available depending on the product, quantity, manufacturing location, shipment size, destination and carrier availability. Express transportation can cost significantly more than standard, and an exact transit time is confirmed with your freight quote.
Standard
Best when you want a balance between delivery cost and transit time. Standard freight is generally the more economical option when your schedule allows additional flexibility. Actual transit time and freight cost are confirmed with your final quote.
Large-volume freight
Larger orders are not handled as ordinary parcel shipments. Depending on size and destination this may involve palletized freight, LTL, air, ocean, partial-container (LCL) or full-container (FCL) arrangements. YaSeen determines the appropriate method for your actual project and quotes it accordingly.
