About Custom Cup Carriers

A cup carrier is a tray with cut-out wells that holds multiple drinks upright and stable in one hand. Carriers are usually built from a moulded material or from folded board, and the format is chosen to match how many drinks a typical order contains at your business.

The practical requirements are straightforward but important: the wells have to match your cup diameter, the base has to stay rigid while loaded, and the whole thing has to survive being carried out a door and set down in a car. A carrier that flexes or lets cups lean defeats the point.

The branding case is unusually strong. A carrier is carried at chest height, in the open, often past a queue of people. It is one of the few pieces of packaging that gets a moving audience rather than a seated one.

Fit & Stability

The wells are matched to your cup diameter, and fit is confirmed before manufacturing rather than assumed from a nominal size. A 12 oz cup from one maker and a 12 oz cup from another maker do not necessarily share the same rim diameter, and a carrier that grips too loosely will let cups lean while a carrier that grips too tightly will refuse a cup that should fit. We confirm the well size against the cup you actually use.

Printing & Brand Coverage

The walls, the handle, and the base edge of a carrier are all printable surfaces, and the choice between them is the single biggest branding decision on a carrier program. A logo on the wall is what a customer sees when they hand the carrier over; a logo on the handle is what they see when they pick it up; a logo on the base edge is what they see when the carrier is set down at a table or on a counter.

• Walls: the largest printable surface, suited to a brand mark, an icon, or a short message.
• Handle: a smaller surface, but the part the customer physically grips, so it tends to be remembered longer.
• Base edge: visible only when the carrier is set down, but useful for a tagline or a QR code.
• One-side or two-side wall print, and full-panel coverage across all four walls for the strongest brand impression.
• Brand color matching: color-matched carriers with or without a logo, with the same mockup process as cups and sleeves.

Carriers With Cups, Sleeves, and Napkins

Carriers are most often ordered as part of a multi-drink service that includes the cups, the sleeves for those cups, and the napkins the customer uses at the counter. Each one is produced in a separate step but arrives in one shipment, with matched colors across the program and one artwork review at the mockup stage. The benefit is operational as much as it is visual: one supplier, one delivery, one reorder, and a counter where every element is built to work with the others.

Minimum Order Quantity

Minimums shift with the format, the material, and the print setup your artwork needs, so the number is confirmed on your quote. Moulded formats and heavy-board formats typically carry a higher minimum than folded kraft formats, because the tooling setup is heavier. A run that reuses an existing plate or die can start lower than one that cannot.
