Round jars are the most common shape and the easiest to fill on standard lines. Mason-style jars use a two-piece lid system and are a familiar format for preserves and pantry products. Hex jars have a six-sided profile that suits honey and artisan products. Tall-round jars work for sauces and beverages. Exact availability depends on capacity and order quantity. Closures

Closures are matched to your specific jar and product, not assumed from a nominal size. The wrong closure lets air in, fails in transit, or strips when a customer tries to open it: which is why we confirm compatibility before manufacturing.

How Jar Selection Works

A jar project has a different order of decisions from a bottle, because the closure does more work. Shape and capacity come first: capacity has to match your fill volume plus the headspace your product needs, and fill volume for a preserve or a candle wax is measured differently. A 16 oz jar that is right for preserves is often too deep for a candle, where the wax only fills part of the vessel and the visible fill line is part of the product.

The closure and sealing system follow, and for food products this is the decision that carries real risk. A two-piece mason lid, a screw cap, and a lug cap each seal differently, and whether a jar holds a vacuum through a hot-fill or water-bath process depends on the exact closure and liner combination. We confirm the sealing system against your process rather than assuming that any lid of the right diameter will work.

Decoration comes last, for the same reason it does on a bottle: the label is built to the printable area the jar actually has. A round jar's label wraps a curve, a hex jar's label has flat panels to work with, and a tall-round jar gives a narrower face than its circumference suggests. Fixing shape, capacity, and closure first means the label is drawn once.

Artwork & Label Requirements

Glass jars are typically decorated with a printed label rather than direct decoration on the glass, so the artwork requirements are largely label requirements. Vector artwork gives the cleanest result because the file scales to the die line without losing edge quality.

• Preferred: AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF, vector formats.
• Acceptable: PNG or JPG at high resolution.
• If you only have your logo, we can prepare the label layout for you.
• Labels wrapping a curve read narrower than a flat layout: we account for this in review.
• A color reference (hex code, Pantone number, or a physical sample) helps us match accurately.

Minimum Order Quantity

Minimum order quantity depends on the jar shape, the capacity, the glass color, and the closure, and is confirmed with your quote. A standard round jar in a common capacity generally starts lower than a shaped or fully custom vessel, because an unusual mould commits tooling a standard jar does not.

Preserve, sauce, and candle producers reorder on a production and seasonal cycle, and the jar is the item that has to match exactly when they do. Because your shape, capacity, glass color, closure, and approved label artwork are recorded against your order, reordering is a matter of confirming your previous configuration and quantity.
